A perfect wedding requires a lot of attention and hard work. However, some couples want to save themselves from all the hassle that planning for a wedding may incur. And that is why a lot of people also consider eloping instead of planning and waiting for some grand wedding.
Eloping is not uncommon, and a lot of couples have actually done it. Some did it as soon as they got engaged while others just experienced some sort of epiphany and realized that they wanted to get married right away. Though it seems to be a spur-of-the-moment decision, there are couples who are still together many years they have decided to elope.
On the other hand, there are other factors affecting people’s decisions to elope. For one, a couple can save a lot of money if they elope and just forgo having a grand wedding. Thus, financial situation is one of the most important deciding factor for couples to go on eloping, especially when they are really not rich and should take note of every dollar that they spend.
In some cases, couples think that it is more important to focus on other things like having children, managing their careers, and assessing their lifestyle instead of creating a guest list or contemplating about the color and flavor of their cake should they decide to hold a wedding ceremony. Other couples, on the other hand, wanted to start having their own families and did not want to go through the process of a very long engagement.
However, maybe, the real reason why couples decide to elope is that they want to have a wedding that which they can celebrate intimately and with just a select number of relatives. In addition, it is possible that they would find it more comforting if they just share their happiness with other people instead of inviting them to some extravagant celebration.
Some couples who eloped realize that they made the right decision especially when they see other engaged couples having a hard time planning their own weddings. The difficulties may arise from disagreements with the parents of the bride or the groom or between the marrying couple.
Such disagreements can be the very foundations of an unhappy marriage and possible cause of divorce in the future.
And when people decide to elope, it is not impossible that they ask for the help of their parents and closest friends, financially or morally. In some cases, the parents take charge of buying something simple for the bride to wear, and they can still be a part of the wedding ceremony even if it’s just a small one.
Meanwhile, eloping also has its downsides. Some friends and distant relatives maybe hurt and disappointed for being excluded in one of the most memorable events in a couple’s life. It may take some time before their relationships with other people can be amended but this should not prevent a couple from having a happy married life.
